Next day is wedding day. All goes pretty well. Have reception at UAW again. More pictures. Got directions from front desk girl to get to bridge. Full wedding party told to go to end of hall and through the door. After trekking through sand and nature we make it.... Only to find a door right there by the lobby! Strike 2. She only said end of hallway, not end of first part, don't go around corner and take door at your left. If you go past wheelchair lift you're too far... If you looked out this door you couldn't see the bridge so we didn't know. Party on later, goes well. Go to room with another girl from party, was supposed to be double beds... Was a single! It was booked in advance but also took forever to process (guessing same girl) because they double booked lodge we we're offered a new room in the other building! Unacceptable. This was also done by security, who offered to shuttle us as needed since there's no front desk at night. Seriously! You have blocked rooms filled so if other wedding guests decided to stay they couldn't!? Security could do basics to get you in but it was total amateur hour by hotel part. Will never stay there again.
Positive. Beach was nice and had a fire pit.
UNDER THE HEADLINE OF YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING.
I traveled 18 hours to arrive at this facility at 10:30 PM in a JEEP rental car.
Absolutely Horrible! Warning, if your vehicle is not made in the US you will not be allowed to park on the property! You are not allowed drive anywhere if allowed to park on the property anyway, they provide a shuttle to take you around the property which is very inconvenient to say the least. I forgot my phone charger in my car and it took 30min for a shuttle to take me to my car and return to the room. The rooms in the main hotel buildings (300 & 400 series room numbers) do NOT have air conditioning! They will lie and tell you that they do, but the entire building runs off a 40yr old radiant system which does NOT provide A/C! The rooms are outdated. No continental breakfast (but the two small local restaurants have excellent food). There was no iron, no coffee maker, and no refrigerator! What kind of hotel does not provide a mini-fridge! So it took over an hour to take the shuttle to our car and go buy a small cooler in the small local town. Soda machine didn't work either. The window opens but would not close, I had to walk around the outside of the building and push it closed myself because bugs were getting inside. It was hot and we could not have the window open, so guess what.. another hour long trip into town to buy a fan. The property and buildings were beautiful and well kept, huge pool, huge gymnasium, huge dining hall with billiard tables downstairs. If they would update the rooms it would be a much better experience!
This place... Ugh! Stayed here for a wedding at the clubhouse. We arrived later after rehearsal and dinner, security lead us to hotel front desk and it was downhill from there. The girl gave us ridiculous directions through the park instead of direct ones. It's not well lit and difficult to navigate at night. Made it back to front gate and security gave us straight forward directions. (All stars given are because of them). Our room was on opposite side of rest of party in our blocked off rooms. They also were booked for some other kids party and allowed to trash the place. Blocking off rooms means nothing to them after a certain time.
So far I would say a single star is genuinely charitable.
After dropping my gear and driving offsite to park my JEEP, I was offered a ride back to my room. I declined the ride. I walked the 1.5 miles back to my room.
Beautiful facility, truly AWESOME. Lots to learn and fellowship with of UAW Members. Food is great!
So -
Rather than being welcomed as I arrived, I was quickly informed at the gate that I was not allowed to park my JEEP on the grounds. Apparently the facility has an issue with JEEPS. I was graciously allowed thirty minutes to drop my gear and then move my car offsite. Seriously.
We got married at UAW in the fall of last year and had a beyond amazing experience. Alyssa helped plan everything and did an outstanding job. The location was beautiful, the food was delicious (truly best food I've had at a wedding) and everything was so organized. We had planned our wedding from out of state and couldn't be more thankful for how much Alyssa did along with how beautiful the location was!
I was checking in as an invited guest - to a family wedding. You would think as a guest I would have been welcomed - they clearly had no issue with the credit card they took for the room.
